Event Description:
Re*Imagine Medical Lake has announced The Moving Wall will be on exhibit in Medical Lake Washington June 13-17, 2019. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than thirty years. The Moving Wall honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War and it bears the names of more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is one of the most visited memorials in our nation’s capital with nearly 5.3 million visits each year which has come to be known as “The Wall”. When John Devitt attended the 1982 dedication, he felt the positive power of "The Wall" and vowed to share that experience with those who did not have the opportunity to go to Washington DC. The Moving Wall was built by Vietnam Veterans and first displayed in Tyler, Texas in October 1984.

The Spokane region has a strong military connection and home to many active duty and retired military veterans and their families from all branches of the armed forces. Hosting the exhibit gives veterans and their families an opportunity for healing and provides an educational experience for the whole community about the impact of the Vietnam War. The four-day exhibit will be a time to honor veterans who have served in both wartime and peacetime and to never forget the sacrifices made for our freedom.

The Moving Wall will be a wrap-around event as part of Medical Lake’s Founders Day Festival June 15th. The Moving Wall will be open to the public daily, 24 hours each day.
